The 28th state of India, Jharkhand, has been drawing students across India to its noted institutes like ISM Dhanbad, BIT Mesra, XLRI, NIFFT and NIT Jamshedpur. Jharkhand has some of the best universities (1 central university, 7 state universities, 2 deemed universities and 1 private university). The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi is the 8th IIM in India and was established in 2010. Most of the universities and the institutes in Jharkhand conduct their own entrance exams and accept national level entrance exams too for admissions to their programmes. Following are the main entrance exams that need to be taken for admission to various colleges and universities in Jharkhand:
AIPMT The All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Testhas replaced the JCECE (medical) for admission to undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS etc.
CAT One of the toughest MBA entrance exam that needs to be taken to qualify for admission to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi and other well-known management institutes of Jharkhand like ISM, Jamshedpur Institute of Management Science.
JEE Advanced The Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Advanced) has replaced the IIT-JEE from 2013 onwards as the single admission test for a seat in the B.Tech and dual degree programs of the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad.
JCECE The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) for admission into engineering, agricultural, veterinary and forestry degree programme in government & private colleges affiliated to JCECE board in the Jharkhand state. The AIPMThas replaced the JCECE (medical) exam.
PECE The Polytechnic Entrance Competitive Examination (PECE) is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) for admission into polytechnic diploma courses in various polytechnics in Jharkhand.
