Birsa Agricultural University

The Birsa Agricultural University in Ranchi, Jharkhand was established in the year 1981. It is situated 8 km from the Ranchi town and lies on the Ranchi- Patratu road. The objective of founding the University is developing area specific technologies and manpower in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry.
The University has been recognized by University Grant Commission (UGC). It is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University has its jurisdiction over the entire state.
The University follows semester system of education. Activities of education, research and extension are carried out through the faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and Forestry, along with three zonal research stations and farms, one university farm, twelve Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
In the year 2006, the University established a Placement Cell for its students. The objective of the Cell is to assist graduating students to find gainful employment. Several organizations have approached the University for conducting campus recruitment. Several organizations and banks of repute have recruited students of the University.
